September Favourites

We're fast approaching the last quarter of the year - CRAZY! - and as cliche as it sounds Septmner has flown by I swear it felt like it only started two weeks ago. Anyway September has been a good month I went to see Florence and the Machine and Twin Atlantic (again), I went to Edinburgh Zoo and even managed a trip to the beach. October is going to have it share of fun moments, with my friend Sams birthday, my birthday an my nans birthday oh and let's not Halloween.

This month I've been trying out the Urban Decay b6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray £22 and I've been liking it. I found the spray to be cooling and refreshing, it comes out in a light mist that feels weightless on your skin, keep your eyes peeled for a full review coming up on my blog in the next few weeks.

I'm a big fan of contouring it's part of my daily makeup routine and this past month I've been reaching for Collections Highlight and Sculpt Contour Kit £4.19 the most, you can read my full post on it here. The contour shade can be really subtle or built up for a stronger look and it's easily to blend, the highlight shade is gorgeous once applied as long as you apply it lightly if not it can look a bit too shimmery. For £4.19 you can't really find fault with this contour kit and it's a great budget drug store buy!

I've been trying out the Lush Roots Hair Treatment £10.25 this month and I really like it, it's got a strong fruity minty smell that I really like and it leaves my hair feeling healthy and thicker. This hair treatment is really easy to use, it takes little effort you simply massages a generous dollop onto dry hair focusing on your roots leave it on for 20 minuets then wash it off. I've got a full post about this hair treatment coming soon, follow me on Bloglovin' to keep up to date with all my posts I'll leave the link here.

You might remember seeing these boots back in my August favourites and they're back again because I've hardly had them off my feet, I bloody love them! They are a khaki greige colour that go with lots of different outfits plus they are comfy so it's win win, I don't often branch out from black boots but I just really love these ones, they were only £18 from Primark and also come in black. I might go back and get another pair in this colour incase these ones get wrecked with all the wear.

Well that's my September favourites what have you been loving?

Collection Highlight and Sculpt Contour Kit

Contouring isn't going anywhere and it's fast become a must do step in daily makeup routines whether you do the full Kim K contour look or prefer to keep it subtle. Collection are the latest drugstore brand to release a contour kit and it's a steal at £4.19 - Yes that's not a typo it's really only £4.19! The packaging is simple a sleek black case that will slot into makeup bags and a narrow mirror along the top which I personally think it's pointless because you don't get much use from it.

The contour shade is a mix between warm and cool, it's warm enough to add some colour and life into the skin but is cool add depth. It's easy to blend and the colour can be built up to create a stronger look but my favourite part of this kit has to be the highlighter. In the pan it doesn't look overly impressive but when applied it gives a really nice illuminating finish with just a hint of shimmer but if you get carried away and apply to much it can look too shimmery. The Collection Contour Kit is a really affordable good value kit, it's currently on offer in Boots for £3.99 if you're new to contouring then this is a great one to start with.

A Day At The Zoo

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that last week I went to the zoo - if you don't follow me on Instagram why not? You're missing out (not really)! My friend Janelle and I went to Edinburgh Zoo for the day and it was really fun, we timed it perfectly so that all the schools were back meaning it wouldn't be overly busy and there wouldn't be tons of kids everywhere. We spent hours walking around the zoo seeing all the animals and taking everything in, while we were at the zoo they had a dinosaur exhibition on and we walked around a mini Jurassic Park sort of area with moving roaring dinosaurs. The price of the zoo was reasonable with parking costing £4 and entry costing £18 for an adult ticket that included a designated time slot to see the pandas, you can stay in the zoo all day -well until closing time- and even take your own food if you don't want to spend much money.

We got to the zoo just after 11 o'clock and stayed until just after 4, we went to see the Pandas which was cool but only the male Panda was out of his enclosure he looked so happy sitting eating bamboo. We saw the bulk of the animals then stopped for a Calippo just as the sun was coming out, we sat on the grass beside penguin rock for a little bit before seeing the penguin march. Edinburgh Zoo makes a great day out for adults and kids, I'd really recommend it.

Lashes and Lingerie | Adore Me

Today I'm talking lingerie which is something I don't think I've spoke about on my blog before. I recently came cross the lingerie brand Adore Me and have created some beauty looks to go along side their newest lingerie collection. If you haven't heard of Adore Me let me tell you a little more about them Adore Me is a New York lingerie brand that offer gorgeous lingerie sets in a range of different styles, they even to up to a G cup (in selected styles)! Adore Me believes that lingerie is an expression of your personal style and shouldn't only be reserved for special occasions. I can almost guarantee that there is a lingerie set for everyone at Adore Me, there is a large range of styles, colours and designs that you're bound to have something catch your eye. I've picked a few of my favourite lingerie sets from Adore Me and I've paired them with a makeup look that I think will go well with them.

These two gorgeous sets from Adore Me's new fall range really stood out for me I love the gorgeous green shade with the subtle purple bows, I thought these sets would look great paired with a bold purple lip and a smoky golden brown eye. To do that I started with my base using Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation then for high coverage under my eyes and on blemishes I used the Kat Von D Lock It Concealer. For my eyes I used the Makeup Revolution Flawless Palette starting with the dark golden shade 'gold digger on the inner corners of my eyes to the centre of my lids then using the golden bronze shade 'medal' in the crease then I used the Soap and Glory Supercat Eyeliner for a strong flick of eyeliner then I packed on some Soap and Glory Thick & Fast Mascara. I then used the Collection Contour Kit to sculpt my cheekbones and forehead giving my face some definition then using the highlight shade over the top of my cheek bones, down my nose and on the centre of my fore head, I finished the look by applying Rimmel Moisture Renew in Dark Night Water-loops lipstick.

The longline lacey  Macie'  bra is super cute and I really like the gorgeous cobalt blue colour, the makeup look I thought would compliment this was an everyday look with a peachy lip and simple eye. For the base the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation and the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer to highlight and conceal under my eyes, for a subtle contour I used the Maybelline Master Sculpt contour shade to add some definition under my cheek bones. For my eyes I used the cool matte neutral brown 'fade' from the Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 1 Palette and used the Revlon Colorstay Crème Gel Eyeliner across my lids to define the eye I finished off my eyes with a couple of strokes of Maybelline Lash Sensational. Lastly on my lips I used Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in the shade 'peach club' to finish the look with a pop of colour that I think brings the whole look together.

Thanks you for reading my post, I hope you like the makeup looks that I have paired with my picks from Adore Me. You can browse the Adore Me website by clicking here, let me know what you think of these looks in the comments below.

Skincare for Blemished Skin

Recently I've had a few stubborn blemishes on my face that just won't shift, I don't get spots often but when I do they are usually angry red blemishes that leave me feeling a bit crap about myself. I don't know about you but when I get them there all I focus on and I'm convinced everyone can see them but in reality people aren't as bothered about them as I am. The problem with blemishes are they seem to hang around for a long time so today I'm going to share with you some of the products that I find help to get rid of pesky blemishes.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Night Lotion £10 the bottle might be little but it packs a punch and lasts for ages! This night lotion has a creamy gel consistency that feels lightweight and cooling on your face, it sinks in fast and leaves your skin looking matte. I use a pump or two all over my face focusing mostly on where the blemishes are before going to bed and when I wake up in the morning the blemishes look much better, the redness and the size of them have reduced. This is one of my favourite products for blemishes, using the Tea Tree Night Lotion from The Body Shop nightly when I have blemishes really helps clear them up.

LUSH Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask £5.50 (for 125g) is one of my favourite face masks ever and it's really great for fighting blemishes and breakouts. The mask cools and calms skin while leaving it feeling great, the mask reduces redness and exfoliates your sink. LUSH Mask of Magnaminty is a multipurpose mask that can be used on your face and body, it's also a self preserving mask so it has a long use by date. I'm always repurchasing this facemask and always have a tub of this facemask in my bathroom! These are the two products I find most effective when I have stubborn blemishes and no matter how many products I try in times of need I always find myself going back to these.

A Little Lush Haul

It's completely okay to get excited about going into Lush isn't it? Whenever I'm going somewhere that has a Lush I know there's going to be a little haul in order. I was in Glasgow last week and picked up some new things to try and two old favourites, I didn't go too crazy as I still have a few things left from previous trips.

I picked up another Mask of Magnaminty Face Mask (£5.50) because this is my go to facemask and I always like to have one handy. Mask of Magnaminty is a self preserving facemask that cools and calms skin, reduces redness and helps to fight blemishes/breakouts while exfoliating at the same time. You can use this make on your face and body, it's also available in a bigger tub but I got the smaller one as the mask lasts a long time this ones okay to use until the middle of December. Mint Julips Lip Scrub (£5.50) is another of my favourite Lush products and I always like to have one in my bathroom stash - I love the minty smell. This is great for buffing away any dead skin, leaving your lips soft and smooth!

While browsing around the store I stumbled across the Roots Hair Treatment (£10.25), it smelt amazing - a fruity minty mix - so I put one in my basket. This hair mask is aimed at people with thine (thin and fine) hair which is me so I'll report back how I find it to work. The hair treatment claims to stimulate the hair follicles, condition, soothe and strengthen hair so it had some big claims. Lastly I picked up two new bath bombs The Experimenter (£3.95) and Intergalactic (£3.95), which I think are part of Lushs new range. That's everything that I picked up from Lush and I spent just under £30 which isn't too bad, I managed to restrain myself from going to crazy.

Glasgow Summer Sessions | Paolo Nutini 29/08/15

Last Saturday saw a sold out crowd pack into Bellahouston Park to be serenaded by Paolo Nutini for the first day of Glasgow Summer Sessions, this was a sort of homecoming gig for him and 35,000 fans we're raring to go. The rain might have started to fall as his set began but it didn't dampen anyone's spirits, the rain soon died off and what was left was a captivated crowd basking in the full moon swooning over Paolo Nutini. Paolo and this band the vipers played lots of songs from his latest album, Caustic Love, which translated well live, he also reworked some of his most loved older songs like Jenny Don't Be Hasty and New Shoes giving them a rockier sound. So full of charm and charisma complete with his soulful voice the crowd we're eating out of the pals of his hand throughout the entire gig but what was undoubtedly the highlight of the night was Paolo's rendition of Stand By Me, the whole crowd seemed to fall in love with him right there and then - if they weren't already. Paolo Nutini is one of those artists who just blow you away when performing live and is well worth seeing, that man, that face, that voice Paolo Nutini really does have it all.
